Teacher's Day Dedication

Teachers are our second parents. They are the ones who serve as our guardians at school. We would confess something to them and give us some advices. Thank you teachers, I am happy that I had you all. God be with us all. We are proud of you!

A Little Conversation between the Teacher and the Student

Ma'am May: Hello Hans.
Hans: Hello Ma'am.
Ma'am May: I had been observing you in our English hour and outside times. And I noticed that you were speaking Filipino all the time.
Hans: I am sorry Ma'am. I had been speaking Filipino all the time.
Ma'am May: Do you know what is gonna be the result of what you are doing?
Hans: Yes Ma'am. I am sorry. I promise not to speak Filipino all the time. I will speak English every time.
Ma'am May: I know you are a man of your word Hans. Farewell.
Hans: Good bye Ma'am.

National Career Assessment Examination

That day, I thought it was going to be some kind of a periodical examination which is graded. The whole level was separated by 5 classes, 4 for the morning and one for the afternoon session. I was one of the students in the morning session.

We were in the room of the 3H people when the test took placed. I found comfortable in the room because it was cold and there was no total disturbance in my atmosphere. I was holding my answer sheet and saw several circles. I told myself that I had already encountered this kind of strategy of answering the examination last year in my second year level. I encountered tests of Mathematical solving, English and Filipino reading comprehensions, entrepreneurial skills and others that were testing our very minds. And at last we ended at noon, for our afternoon hours were home sweet home times.

NCAE for me is an examination to help us in finding courses for colleges. My type of course was Fine Arts, and I wish that will be the result of the examination in my side.

Mango Tree...

MANGO tree, of course, is a tree rich with mangoes. It is tall and big. It has a long life almost the same with the average lifespan of a human.

At the back of our house, we had this kinda big mango tree. I was always happy because I was used to climb and play at the tree. Mangoes were my favorite fruits. And every time we had our mango harvest, I would get one basket of ripen mangoes and give others some mangoes.

I would describe myself as a mango tree because I am giving, tall and strong. God knows that I can say these things.

I am a mango tree, there I said it.

Intramania!

Everyone must think that if you participate in this kind of activity, you must be happy still if you lost or won the game.

That was my view while playing Javelin. I was the player of the Third Year level for the Javelin throw. While practicing before that time, I felt nervous. I was kept saying, "Matatalo ako for sure..." Then the others told me that I am not that pretty bad.

When I was about to play, my legs were shaking and my palms were getting wet. I was holding the Javelin like I was Leonidas of the movie 300 or Eomer of the movie The Lord of the Rings. I was throwing it like I am going to the heaven, and at last, I made a perfect pierce. Unfortunately, I did not make it at the top because of the distance. But that was okay, if you want to know the reason, look at the first sentence of this blogpost. :)

Sonnet 116

A.

1. Love is not love. Love is not Time's fool. Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks.
2. Love alters when its alteration finds or bends with the remover to remove. Love is the star to every wandering bark. Love bears it out even  to the edge of doom.

B.

1. Love is like a star that its value cannot be fathomed or cannot be reached even though you have it.

C.

1. I agree because I noticed that the piece has its comparisons and contrasts about love.

Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino: My Modern Day Hero

The man known for eyeglasses in fashion,
From his martyred father killed in action.
And the yellow Chinese trademark in appearances,
From his parents who were granted by people remembrances.

The man who was one of the candidates in the 2011 elections,
Became the President of the Philippine Island portions.
The man who taunts his countrymen the word,
“You are my boss and you have my word!”

As today, two years had passed,
This man must be the model of those who wanted to be inspired.
The future leaders must have his characteristics as a leader,
And that is Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino, the Aquino clan’s stand bearer.

The Music in my Life.

"Music is eveywhere..."

According to Wikipedia, music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence.  Music for me is a tool of inspiring ourselves and colouring our lives to make it meaningful. Music is like the alternate thing of the characteristics possessed by a person. If he or she listens to peaceful music, he or she is to be described as a man or a woman of peace and otherwise, if he or she listens to music that handles harsh experiences, he or she is to be described as a man or a woman of the damned.  Music can be divided into genres such as rock, pop, metal, RnB, and others. Those genres were divided according to the organization of the rhythm.
If you are going to ask me what type of music I like, I would enumerate those.

1.       Rock

If I hear the word “rock”, hard comes through my mind because the music with the genre rock has hard feelings. I remember my first time to listen rock music from the band Foo Fighters which was introduced by my brother to me. It was entitled “Overdrive” from their album “One by One”.  I thought that I was not going to like it. But when I listen to the lyrics, I had its attention in myself. And so many albums had passed in my ears and I got addicted to rock bands such as Foo Fighters, ACDC, Killswitch Engage and Alterbridge.

1.       Instrumental

I like instrumental. I got this when I watched The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Those instrumental music that they play in such scenes like the army assembling and advancing towards the enemy, and those times of grief. And so that I still listen to those in my cellphone. I am interested also to those instrumental music in the other movies such as The Da Vinci Code, The Last Samurai, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, and games such as Red Alert 1, 2, and 3, Call of Duty series and Medal of Honor series.

An advice for those people who haven’t seen connection with music, please make those as your “jewerlies”, because you can consider them also as your treasures.

The July 22, 2011 Astronomy Day.

July 22, 2011: The Friday for astronomers to amuse the students of CNSHS. That day made me curious. I thought astronomers cannot travel and they can only stay in their offices to tackle some research about space. But those astronomers were said to be “travellers” around the country. From Ilocos Norte to Davao, they travel using their mobile station and continue to amuse and not only to amuse, but to let the students excel in their space knowledge by their “props” such as the reigning Space Dome, the thrilling Film Showing, the amazing Exhibit, the challenging Ask An Astronomer portion, and the exciting Stargazing.
That morning, we students of III-Oxygen were cleaning and bringing our chairs and tables outside the Physics lab, or our respective room. Physics Lab was going to be the place where the Exhibit will take place. We were brought in the Research Lab and had enjoyment because of the air conditioner. We had our English class with fun. We had a game, not just a game, but a word game, where the last letter of the word that the person will give was to be constructed to make a word. After that, I had my recess with Erick. 9:30 a.m.; I thought that time will be the start of the activities in Astronomy day, when Mrs. Berganos went in the room, asking us to prepare our laboratory notebook. I got shocked because I thought we will start the activities. So that came to the result of making Mrs. Berganos coming back to her room.  And then we went out, being excited for the Film Showing. While watching, I heard someone in the movie named as Hans Lippershey. They all looked at me. I said to myself, “Oh God...”. After the Film Showing, we had a 15-minute wait for the Batch 2 to go out of the Dome for us to take place. By surprise, I felt like I was in the Planetarium in Manila. About the constellations, planets and time, I got amazed. So we went in the next station, the Exhibit. I saw some pictures from NASA and the actual meteoroids. But I never had my actual touch in the meteoroids because of the long line. And then lunch, I and Erick went out to eat at my house, expecting “someone” to join me. Ask an Astronomer portion: that made me sleepy (just joking). I learned some answers of those questions that others gave. Unfortunately, we did not tackle the exciting Stargazing, due to heavy rain. And after that, the III – O had a rest and went home safely. And I thank God for the “not so enjoying” day because no one of us got accidents.

“I’ve never been as scared as I was when...”
I’ve never been as scared as I was when I was left alone in my house at the age of 7 or 8. That was my frightful morning that when I wake up, I noticed that my parents are not around inside the house, and no concern in my brother and sister, who were in Manila that time due to studies and work. I shouted, “MA! PA! Nasaan kayo?!”. I came in search of them, thinking on that time that they were in danger. And there came a time that I went in the house at the front of our house, the Velando residence with their funeral service that time, because they have a funeral business with the name “Funeraria Magdalena”.  The breadwinner of the family, “Mang Boy” as the one that I call, saw me and asked me what was happening. I told him that my parents are missing. So that came to the point that he gave me a hot chocolate and let me rest in their couch. And hours later, my parents went back and I was crying that time. They told me that they bought me food. And that made me happy, but I considered it as one of my scariest moments of my life...

My Hobbies of Thy Life.

Every person has its hobby. A hobby is the activity of an individual to have a relaxing life. Hobbies of people are sometimes enjoyable or sometimes boring. And for me, I got some hobbies that other people and I have in common. My favourite hobbies are sketching portraits, playing computer games, watching movies, and listening to music.

First of all, I really love sketching portraits. Actually, I consider it as a part of my life. There is no day that I am not going to sketch. And sometimes, I use it as the attraction in my friends. They would have my attention as they look in my sketches.

Sketching
"A magnificent sketch by its magnificent owner with his magnificent pencil..."

I love to play computer games. I would choose on those mind-exercising games such as Prime Suspects, Text Twist, and Bookworm Adventures, or the games of my age such as Red Alert 3, GTA San Andreas, Scarface: The World is Yours and Call of Duty: World at War. Games sometimes make up my world.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
"Ching bling..."

Scarface: The World is Yours
"Say Hello To My Little Friend!"

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
"The Empire rises..."

I love to watch movies, especially war and suspense. My favourite movie is the trilogy pack of The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King.). I hate romance movies, in which gives me irritating voices from others such as “YIHEEEE”. It annoys me.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
"One ring to rule them all..."

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
"The Journey Continues..."

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
"The Journey Ends..."

And lastly, I like to listen in music. My interests of music are rock and instrumental. In rock, I had the bands AC/DC, The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and Metallica. In instrumental, I sometimes listen on the soundtracks of the movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and WWE.

Foo Fighters
"The Nirvana band of Dave Ghrol"

"Black Ice, Anything Goes..."

The Role of Hans Pierce Verano in the Verano Family

According to Wikipedia, family means, “a group of people affiliated by consanguinity, affinity, or co-residence.”  A family is the basic unit of society. It consists of members such as father, mother, and children. Each and every one of them must have their own responsibility and duty in the family. They are like organs of the human body system, in which if they fail to help themselves from solving of such problems that can lead them to decline, leaving the family broken and unrevealed to be recovered.

One of the things I am doing to our family is restoring peace after problems. If there is something bad that happened with a simple solution, I am there to help. But if that was very hard to be solved, I would have an alliance of one of the members.  Another thing is helping my parents and my brother and sister in cleaning the house. Sometimes, I would volunteer myself to do the given task of cleaning the house. Or sometimes, I would let my brother handle it.  Another thing is cooking my own food. Any simple foods such as fried rice, egg, ham, and Yakisoba pancit canton. That makes me aware of doing these things at my future.

And so the conclusion for me was: I consider myself as an important organ of the system. Especially because I am the youngest member of the family, except my nephew, UNO.

The Father of Mine

"May is the month for mothers and June is the month for fathers."

In this world, every family has its own father: a father that loves his children and even his wife like the love that his parents or his brothers and sisters gave him before he had his children and wife. Fathers were considered as one of the loveliest persons in the life of every person in mankind, not if they were loved so much by their fruits. And I am so proud that I have a lovely father.
He was a father born in the promise of Misamis Occidental. He never saw his father because when he was born, his father died a month ago. He studied elementary and high school in his hometown and college in Trinity College – St. Andrew’s Seminary, Quezon City with the course of Licentiate in Theology, BSE in Western Colleges Naic, Cavite and Master in Mass Communications and Doctor in Public Administration in Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He is currently the known professor of PUP in the fields of English, Politics & Governance, History, and Logic, and a missionary priest in Holy Cross, Paco, Manila.
I and my father have interests in common. One thing is to sketch. I remember the first time that my father taught me to draw, and that is to draw an apple. The next years, he had me drew Dr. Jose Rizal, even though it was ugly. And nowadays, my father honours me of having nice sketches. He even told me that I was better than him. I told him, “Like father, like son.” Another thing is playing chess. That was our favourite pastime. We even play during vacations. And I thank my father for giving me a sport to play.
In our house, he was known to be a responsible father, With chores in the house, he sometimes cook food whenever my mother was half sick due to hard day’s work, and help me clean the house. Around 5:00 in the morning, he cooks my food and leaves the house at 7:00 in the morning to teach in the school. And during Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, he leaves the house at 4:00 in the morning and return at home on 10:00 in the evening. In terms of his heart, he was known to have a tender heart. If there was something wrong that I made, he would ask me to explain and say sorry and tell them I was wrong.
Once again, I am very proud to have a father like him. I love my father very much and I wish him long life. I LOVE YOU PAPA!

June 6, 2011 - A New Day

"...So, where to begin?..."

4: 30 A.M. When my alarm in my cellphone rang, I was very excited on what would happen 2 hours later at that time. I took a bath, ate my breakfast, brushed my teeth, and  took in my school uniform feeling that I would be late during that day. My brother laughed at me because when I finished all the things that I should do before I leave my home and go to school, I was looking at the wall clock in my cellphone, and he asked me, "Ang aga mo ata ngayon. 5:50 pa lang eh, papasok ka ng mga 6:30 diba?" (You are so early today. It is only 5:50, you are going to school at 6:30, right?). Because at that time, I was fully dressed with my school uniform. Unlike the last two years, I was wearing my uniform a minute before I left my house. So fast forward, I said goodbye to my father, mother, my brother and my naughty nephew, Uno.

6:30 A.M. A tricycle driver dropped me by in the gate of our school. When I stepped on the ground, actually CNSHS ground, I felt nervous . I do not know if there was something that I forgot during that time that could cause me to be embarrassed anytime. So I left my bag at the front of the guidance center, where there were school bags scattered, left with rushing students to go to the flag ceremony. Of course, we sang the National Anthem, recited the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, and sang the CNSHS Hymn.We had our "very excellent" physical exercise. After that, I got my bag and we had our not-actually-the-first-time to clean our room. We were already grouped since Brigada Eskwela, so we already knew the parts of our "territory" to be cleaned.

7:00 A.M. We started our Physics class. I just saw our adviser, Mrs. Jenny Ann P. Soriano, writing the class schedule. And I got shocked that we do not have recess in the morning because of lack of time in our Spanish class. So I never minded it and continued of what I should do. God, I did not know where to sit. But at least I had myself happy at the last row. Haha! Our fellow adviser discussed to us some classroom rules, some things that she dislikes and the other requirements needed in the subject she is holding at - Physics. And then, she gave us an activity module that she told us to copy in a long bond paper. (But at that time, I was afraid of myself in writing again). Imagine, I hadn't written anything in the past 2 months. On those months, I spent myself in Adobe Photoshop, played computer games, watched TV, took care of my nephew! (Haha.), and helped my parents in household chores (as always. Haha.)) So back to the scene, I got the module, started copying while my fingers were shaking. And that was the reason why my penmanship got ugly. And then we had our second class – English. I knew that our English teacher, Mrs. Mildred Atendido, was going to inspect our notebooks and other requirements in her class. And I almost forgot the index cards. I was rummaging at my bag and my classmate, Ardhie, was surprised to see me holding a very thick bunch of index cards! Haha! He was kidding me at that time that he wanted some index cards. And so it started, our English teacher explained some  information related  to English and as always, the things that she dislikes. Honestly, I enjoyed it a lot. After the English class, I was very excited to have our Spanish class, because I wanted to speak Spanish and to relate with my mother, who was a Spanish teacher decades ago. There came Mrs. Maricar Ligsa, the II-H’s former English teacher. She spoke to us like that she belonged to an “aristocratic Spanish family” (Yikes, can I use that term? Haha!) She introduced us one of the Spanish sentences such as “Yo tambien!” and “Como se dice?”. Haha. I was laughing at my classmate Ruviel, who kept on repeating and repeating “Yo tambien!” (at that later night, she posted on her Facebook account that her favourite sentence now was “Yo tambien!”. Haha!). And that Spanish class ended at 9: 25, giving us 5 minutes to eat, even though 9:00 to 9:30 is for Spanish. So I ran to the canteen and had myself eating VOICE chocolate sandwich. There came Mrs. April Mae A. Berganos, who was my former teacher in Advanced Technical Writing. She told us the meaning of Science, technology, and we even enumerated those branches of science and chemistry. And the next class, we got Mrs. Malou del Rosario. Haha. we had our activities of enumerating words that relate to India and Asian music, and we had our fun! After that, Mrs. Ligsa returned again with her Spanish book, indicating that we will check our assignment in Spanish. Haha! I was laughing and laughing again because of “Yo tambien!” by Ruviel. So we got ourselves after the class speaking in Spanish, for those other sections cannot understand what we were saying, because it was our section that Mrs. Ligsa will take at the week. So I and Erick ate our lunch in the canteen. Haha! Fried chicken was the greatest meal I had ever tasted in our canteen. (Even though we cannot go in the canteen for the freshmen and sophomores.) And after that, we had our Advanced Statistics in Research with Mrs. Eliaquim Bisa, the teacher I liked the most. We were all discussing about sets, sets, sets, and sets (Haha!), and argued about the number “1” being a prime number. So we had it as our assignment. And then we got Mrs. Benilda Orsal, the Math teacher who replaced Mrs. Rosario Javier for the meantime. And we went to have snacks after that. As always, I was introducing myself to my other classmates who are not known to me.(Believe me! Don’t ask me again if I know them last year! Haha!). So after that, we had Ma’am Evelyn Nazareno, the teacher I often see in the canteen. We had linked explanations set by our teacher and one of us would explain it and pass it to the other one. Honestly, I like that style – linked explanations. Haha! And lastly we had Mrs. Julieta Arceo, the known Math teacher. We had our test, I do not know if it was pre-Diagnostic test or what. I got tired. My eyes were irritated due to the dust that I had at my seat while answering.

So I went home safe and free from accident. I thanked God to the guidance he gave me. I thanked him because he gave me a day that gained me friends, and met new people around the campus. I was very happy at that time and I wished I could improve better myself in the following days.
